“Howard’s Funeral” by Alan Fox

HOWARD’S FUNERAL

Last Sunday morning
my wife kissed

her brother, not feeling,
for the very last time.

Later, at the cemetery,
there were eight relatives,

friends, more than
we had expected.

Alan Fox: “I’m feeling the whisper of mortality in my newly hearing aided ears, as my father turned 100 recently. I plan to fully take advantage of my next twenty years of opportunity.” (website)
